My Extern Janus worker was always there for me to talk to about everything that was happening. She helped me learn different ways to stop myself from getting so angry and to get on better in school.

Extern also helped my dad a lot; he is doing really well now so I think we will have a good future. My only wish is that I had a longer time to spend with Extern!

Extern provided weekly counselling sessions for me which gave me the skills to deal with the challenges I faced and to challenge the perceptions I had of myself. I now have more of a sense of self-belief, which really helps me keep going.

They help me when I get frustrated and speak up for me in meetings when I am nervous. They support me to make decisions for myself and talk through options when I am unsure of what decision to make.

Extern gave so much to me, so I wanted to give back to them, and that’s why I now work as a peer mentor with the  Moving Forward, Moving On  project in Belfast. I have so much experience behind me now, and I want to share that with other young people.
