Approved Accommodation
Extern has been providing support to ex-offenders in the community for over 30 years.
Extern manages two probation approved hostels that can accommodate up to 34 medium to high risk offenders who have been assessed as requiring intensive monitoring and supervision until they can positively re-integrate into the community and acquire suitable permanent accommodation. The services provided to residents within the two hostels include strict monitoring and adherence to release conditions, management of health issues and pastoral care; re-establishing family contacts in the community and supporting residents into training and employment opportunities to secure their future and prevent re-offending. This accounts for almost a half of such beds available in Northern Ireland and we work with some of the most challenging referrals from the criminal justice system. Funding for approved accommodation comes from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and Supporting People.
