The Extern Short Stay Break Service is a planned or emergency break as an alternative to being placed in short-term care, by providing three or four day social, educational, cultural and recreational respite opportunities to young people, aged 8-17.
Operating for over 30 years, Extern's Short Stay Break Service has offered a structured break at our custom-built Roscor Youth Village or Kinnahalla Youth Village
The Short Stay Break Service offers crucial time for social workers and caregivers to identify stressors and establish connections with vital support networks.
Our highly skilled staff are extensively trained in various skill sets, particularly attuned to effective methods when supporting children who have undergone trauma.
Referrals to our service are exclusively managed through social work departments, ensuring a coordinated and supportive entry process for individuals in need.
